Migration from Windows

Winnux Migrate helps you safely transfer files and settings from Windows to Winnux.

What can be migrated

• Documents, photos, music, videos
• Downloaded files
• Desktop wallpapers
• Browser bookmarks and passwords (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
• Contacts and calendar (via standard formats)

Migration process

1. Identify: Winnux Migrate looks for Windows partitions
2. Select: You choose which data to transfer
3. Verify: Each transferred file is verified with checksums
4. Confirm: You get a report of what was transferred

Safe migration

Winnux never deletes data from Windows during migration. Files are copied, not moved. You can go back to Windows at any time during the transition.

Application migration

Winnux recommends Linux alternatives when available. For each Windows application, it shows:

• A Linux version is available
• A recommended Linux alternative
• The Windows version works in Winnux via Bridge
• The application does not work yet
