Set up gaming

Winnux Gaming makes it easy to play your Windows games on Linux through Steam and Proton.

Step 1 — Install Steam

Open Winnux Store and search for "Steam". Click "Install".

# Alternatively via terminal:
flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam

Step 2 — Enable Proton

Winnux Gaming configures Proton automatically. In Steam:

1. Go to Settings → Compatibility
2. Enable "Enable Steam Play for all other titles"
3. Select the latest Proton version

Step 3 — Install games

Install games just like in Windows Steam. Proton handles compatibility automatically.

Check compatibility

Before buying a game, check it on ProtonDB. Winnux Gaming integrates compatibility data in the store.

Optimization

For best performance:

• Update graphics drivers via Winnux Hardware
• Enable Game Mode (automatic in Winnux)
• Use Gamescope for isolated rendering (advanced)

Other gaming platforms

Besides Steam, you can install:

• Heroic Games Launcher — Epic Games and GOG
• Lutris — General game manager
• Bottles — For apps and games outside Steam
